Surfboard Storage

At the moment, we are in a landlocked state. That means, no ocean touching our state on any side. Sadly, not even within driving distance. One day we will be near ocean again. It’s not a dream, it’s a reality! Until then, I wanted to store our boards in a way to still remind us that we surf, we love the ocean, we still are in the game!

There are many ways to store/showcase surfboards. Here’s what I did…

I got these cute dragonfly hooks. I used a stud finder to secure the screws into studs. The dragonfly hooks slips easily onto the screw. I bought these at Target.

I then used ribbon to hang the surfboard on and then slip the ribbon onto the hooks. Simple!

Here, I wanted this type of look. The wood adds a nice element and really ties the wood tones in this room. You can see the shelving unit I built here…ย You can see I kept the wood natural in the shelving. I knotted this rope because “Spencer The Cat” loves to play with the hanging piece! Picture of him can be found on my instagram! Though I do have a few felines, he’s one of the orange ones. Future post on all the abandoned critters that have found safe refuge with us coming… ๐Ÿ™‚

And speaking of wood tones… I think it goes well not only with the shelving, but it goes nicely with the “drum” nightstand you can find that post here… ย ๐Ÿ™‚ย See that bottom surfboard? That was made by Rusty himself!

These simple hooks can be found most anywhere…Home Depot, Lowes, Target. They are around 3 bucks for two! Not bad.

I used cotton rope to hang these boards.

Oh hi! This is “Spencer The Cat”! He loves to sleep, take baths, and purr.

Surfer Magazine wrote in 2020 surfing will be an olympic sport! If you love surfing, whether you like to surf or just watch, this is exciting news! My family is super excited about this!

If you have surfboards, paddle boards, even light kayaks, this hanging system could be a fun way for you to store your equipment.

Happy Friday to all you AWESOME followers. Go find, be, do something that excites you!

Peace, Koko ๐Ÿ™‚

    • And what a personality he has! He fetches, sits, and begs for treats! He comes to his name too! He was born to a feral momma. A wonderful woman rescued the momma and all her babies. She kept them all expect for this little guy! My son fell head over heels for that kitten. We are happy she let us have him. He is such a good creature! Lovely to have you pop in my blog. I wish for you a beautiful weekend. (I hope your weather is not as humid as where I am at!) Be well, Koko:)

      • I love the rain. Though I know it can get in the way at times. There’s something about it that soothes me. Ireland is a country I’d love to go to one day. Weekend is off to a great start! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Lisa! I am not very good at it, but I love to keep trying to get better. I really enjoy watching it. And the ocean is just amazing. I could watch the waves crash all day! My thing is paddle boarding. One day I will get closer to the ocean! Thank you for reading. I hope your weekend is spectacular! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. …and the creativity remains endless… You are the answer to Obesity. All I have to do is get people to follow you around each day, and the weight will melt from trying to keep up with you! ๐Ÿ™‚ . Those boards look phenomenal on the walls.

As for Spencer, those pictures speak a thousand words. Enjoy all those little animals with all your heart. They add real quality to our lives!

    • Hanging the boards is such a good reminder of happy times. Seeing them daily shouts out like a good mantra repeated every time like words on a sign. Spencer is a cool cat. He waits for me daily for his “chase the string game”. I never thought I’d have cats and to think it started with a feral kitten! And for some reason the world tilts just so that strays find me…two weeks ago I found a frail, malnourished kitten in a box outside a store. It was dreadfully hot that day. It was touch and go, but nothing snuggles and good nutrition is fixing. You can see a picture of Koa on my Instagram. Your uplifting words are never lost on me. Your positivity and kindness brightens my days. Take care and have an awesome weekend! There are paint cans with my name on it! Off I go! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Haha it looks great! I remember back in one of my old apartments I had my snowboard hanging at the wall like that (as if I was ever good in snowboarding, just showing off that I at least survived few times to get down a mountain! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

      • Haha I am also very terrible in it and haven’t tried it for ten years now or so. Preferred much more skiing…anyhow I would love to surf / learn it. Got serval pals who go every year to Portugal for a few weeks for surfing ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you so much for saying so! The boards are safer up and out of the way too. We have a snow board that I have propped in a corner and it has fallen a few times! I need to hang this too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice so see you here! Have a wonderful day!

    • I needed a way to have them safe, up and out of the way! I also like being able to see them as they remind me of happy times. Spencer is quite the character. He has a masterful purr and the best snuggler! Be well my friend. Always nice to hear from you! I hope the storm doesn’t affect you!

  3. Koko, what an exciting post you have here. I love the dragonfly hooks you used for your surf boards. That’s a great idea to hang them where you will always see a part of your JOY… Some days that’s all it takes… A gentle reminder of what makes us smile and I do that all around my house and outdoors too.. Take care sweet lady and I know all of your dreams will come true.
    Hugs, Laura

    • …Always see a part of your joy…. You have such a beautiful way with words. Thank you for reading and liking. Warms my heart. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Today we had a very fall like day, gentle breeze and delicate air. I had chai ginger latte and a slice of carrot cake with my fab daughter. Good day and more good times to add to the box of good memories. Thank you for your beautiful spirit that makes me smile whenever I hear from you! Hugs! Koko

      • Koko we are two peas in a garden pod you and I. I think a nice chai ginger latte and carrot cake with your daughter sounded heavenly. I must do the same with mine very soon. Thank you so much for your message as it means the world to me when we are able to share thoughts like this again.. Indeed, Fall is approaching, but this coming week is suppose to feel more like in the 90’s f ~ high 30’s c , so the tomatoes will be joyous again for another week.. harvesting potatoes, carrots, beans, beets, onions,Swiss chard and preparing beds to plant hard neck garlic to winter over. All in all it’s been a delightful summer in the garden… hugs to you from me, Laura ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. This is a great way to store these. I’m saving some money to purchase a paddle board and other fun outdoor stuff. I’ll have to learn how to use them of course! I want to move close to an ocean too. Somewhere warm! Your kitty cat is adorable too!

    • Surfing is fun. The pros make it look easy. I fall a lot! Paddle boarding is more my speed. Great core workout too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy to see you here. Hope the rest of your week goes awesomely! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I love that you display your board somewhere you will see it everyday, so much better than crammed in a storage locker!! And I love ginger cats so obviously think Spencer is a huge cutie โค๏ธ Thanks for sharing!

    • Nice of you to stop by! I always enjoy hearing from you. Your blog inspires me! Glad we are Instagram pals! Have an awesome weekend. My plans are to paint. Not my fave thing to do, but must be done. Any plans for your weekend?

    • Wow, this is super late, but I thank you all the same for stopping by. Where this surf board is hung, there isn’t an ocean in site! I brought it with me from California. It reminds me of the good times I’ve had surfing. It does make a fun decoration, though I think it’s itching as much as I am to get back in the water! Have a lovely day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. You are so hands on, Koko. Great job. Great idea to hang the surfboards. It’s actually a great decor in a man’s or boy’s room. I’ve never heard of a cat loving baths. It’s great that Spencer loves bathing. โค

    • We have a few surfboards and snow boards and I really needed to incorporate them into the decor somehow, otherwise our garage gets too jam packed and I really need the space in there for my wood projects. All 9 of my kitties take baths! Teehee…a must in my household as it helps keep the hair down and everything as clean as I can muster. I found a kitten in a box several weeks ago and he is learning to like baths too. Check out my instagram. I’m teaching him to walk on a leash! It’s always nice to see you pop in. I appreciate the support and kind words. Be well Anna! Have a lovely week ahead! Koko ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I love that cat! He is my oldest boy. He has the coolest personality. I’ve been away for a hot minute from blogging, but I’m hoping to post in the next day or so. Miss seeing your recipes! Hugs to you Liz!

  7. Enjoyed reading through your post! Clever storage ideas–thanks! And Spencer is one cute cat! Looking forward to reading more~

    • I’m glad you found something you liked here! I will pass the compliment on to Spencer! He can be quite the dapper little Cat. It would be wonderful to see you back. Have a great week and Happy Halloween!

    • This is a lot too late, but maybe better late than never?? Hahaha…I am hoping to get out a new post in the next day or so. You are very thoughtful to stop by and leave a comment. I appreciate that! Can’t wait to read posts again! Hugs!

    • Spencer does love the city life! But he also loves to roam around the property chasing birds and squirrels. He really is a great cat with a lot of personality! Hanging the surf boards just made sense. Sure keeps them from daily damage they could sustain around the many critters running around! Take Care Sophie. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • You have a great way to hang those colorful surfboards! Do you go by Koko or is this your pet’s name? Please don’t feel I am being rude, I just want to be able to use whatever name you would like others visiting your blog to call you. ๐Ÿ’ฎ๐ŸŒธ

      • Hanging the surfboards this way really keeps them from getting damaged too. Also makes easy artwork! Ha ๐Ÿ™‚ No worries…Koko is my nickname. I hope wherever you are, the sun is shining! Hugs, Koko
